Make Spring Time Honeydew Melon Juice
Spring time is here and this juice is perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the honeydew melon and the tart flavour of the kiwi and grapefruit.
1/2 honeydew melon
2 kiwi fruits
1 mint leaves (handful)
Juicing Time: 2 min
Juice Qty: 550 ml
Honeydew Melon (1 min)
Remove the outer skin (you can juice it but it changes the taste)
Cut into thin strips or small pieces to fit in the wide chute
You can leave the seeds intact as they easily go through the juice
Kiwi (30 sec)
Thinly slice the outer brown skin (you can juice it but changes the colour of the juice)
Juice kiwi fruits whole
Grapefruit (30 secs)
Remove the skin leaving as much white pith as possible
Juice whole or cut in half if too big to fit into the wide chute
Mint (10 sec)
remove the leaves from the woody stems
Place the mint into the juicer first as they a light and need other ingredients to push them through.
Next juice the kiwi fruits.
Add the honeydew pieces slowly letting the machine press. Both Kiwi and Honeydew are soft and need a little extra time to push through.
Finish with the whole grapefruit.
Garnish with a slice of lime if you like.
Honeydew melon is a dieter’s delight! It’s extremely low in calories, has zero fat and its flavor is sweet. It is about 90% water and contains electrolytes, such as potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium. This combination of water and nutrients makes honeydew great for hydrating after a workout, during illness or if you’re just trying to stay hydrated throughout your day. Honeydew melon contains several nutrients that are vital for repairing and maintaining strong bones, including folate, vitamin K and magnesium. Mint (Mentha) is a popular herb and a well-known mouth freshener that has been used for hundreds of years for its medicinal properties. Mint is effective at relieving digestive problems such as upset stomach and indigestion.
Regular use of this herb is very beneficial for asthma patients and relieves congestion. Happy Juicing!!!
Tip: When buying honeydew, choose a melon with a dull looking appearance. A shiny outside is an indicator of an under-ripe melon. Also, honeydews should be pale yellow to light lemon in color, not overly green
