Make a Chocolate Pecan Milk

Description

Happy Easter Everyone.

Are you a chocolate lover? Is Easter all about chocolate for you and the family?

If yes then you will love this version of a healthy chocolate milkshake made without the dairy and without the high-fat content from the chocolate.

Pecan nut milk is light and creamy which makes it perfect for making chocolate nut milk. I also like the sweet flavour of maple syrup, in this recipe, with its hint of caramel and toffee.

Ingredients

  • 250 ml filtered water

  • 1 cup pecans (soaked)

  • 2 tbsp cacao powder

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 pinch sea salt

Juicing Time: 2 mins + 8hrs soaking

Juice Qty: 350ml

Serves: 1

Preparation

Pecan Nuts

  • Place pecan nuts in a small bowl and cover with water

  • Allow to soak for 8 hrs or overnight

  • Juice whole

  • If you forgot to soak the nuts overnight, you can use hot water and soak them for 1 hour

You don’t need any special attachments to make nut milk in a Kuvings cold press juicer. Just use the standard juice strainer you always use to make cold press juice. You don’t even need a nut bag to strain the milk afterward because a Kuvings juicer strains the milk when pressing the nuts.

Method

Firstly, discard the water from the soaked nuts, then rinse them thoroughly under cool running water.

Close the cap of the juicer. Place ¼ of the nuts in the juicer and add ¼ the water. Repeat until done.

Allow the juicer to run for 30 seconds before opening the cap and releasing the milk.

Pour the milk into a glass bottle then add the cacao, salt and maple syrup. Shake the bottle to mix the ingredients together.

The milk is best when placed in the fridge for an hour and served chilled.

Tip #1: you can use any other nuts like cashews, almonds, and walnuts if you don’t have any pecans.

Tip #2: Also soaking nuts for as long as 48 hours makes for tastier, silkier milk. Remember don’t use the soaking water in the recipe, use fresh water to make the milk.

Tip #3: The Pecan meal (pulp) can be used to sprinkle onto salads or added to smoothies for an extra nutritional boost.

Happy Juicing!
