Ingredients

  • 2 apples

  • 2 plums

  • 1 strawberry punnet (250g)

  • 1 cup grapes

Time: 3 mins
Juice Qty:  700ml
Tip: The black variety of grapes are by far the most nutritious and if you can find them with seeds, even better as some of the nutrition from the seeds will get pressed out in the juicer.

Preparation

Apples

  • Remove the stems and remove any stickers

  • Juice apples whole with skin and seeds.

  • Cut in half or quarters if too big to fit into the wide chute.

Grapes

  • Remove the woody stems

  • Juice whole grapes with skin on

Strawberry

  • Pull off the small green leaves for best flavour, you can juice them if you want

  • Juice whole

Plum

  • Cut off either side of the stone to get two halves

  • Trim the sides of the stone to get maximum amount of flesh off

  • Juice with skin on

Juicing Method

Start with the cap closed on the juicer to help mix the flavours of the soft fruits together. Add the strawberries first, they juice easily and will provide a beautiful strawberry flavour to the other ingredients.

Next, add the plums and then the grapes letting the juicer mix the juice before releasing the cap to let the juice out.

Finish with the apples, add them one at a time, and let the juicer press them completely before adding the next one.

Healthy Benefits

There are many health benefits to this fresh, fruit-powered, juice recipe but the one I want to focus your attention on is the malic acid component.

The word 'malic' comes from the Latin word 'malum', meaning 'apple' which is why I recommend to those with brain or neurological symptoms to consume more apples. Even if you don't have any symptoms yet you can gain benefits from eating, drinking, or consuming more apples.

Apples also contain the amino acids glutamine and serine, which help detoxify the brain of MSG.

Apples also release phytochemicals that bind onto viruses, shrouding viral cells so that they can’t feed and proliferate. Very beneficial wouldn't you say.

Grapes are one of the most nutritious and medicinal foods available. Their phytochemicals are anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-aging, and anti-cancerous. They provide protection against anemia, degenerative nerve diseases, heart disease, viral and fungal infections, Alzheimer’s, autoimmune disorders, and all forms of cancer.

Plums are a sweet, juicy, low-calorie fruit that are a powerhouse in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. Malic acid together with quinic acid accounts for the bulk of the organic acid content of ripe plum flesh. Prunes (dried plums) are also high in malic acid.

Strawberries contain malic acid along with citric acid and ellagic acid which gives fresh strawberries their acidic-like taste. They are packed with Vitamins A, B-complex, & E and minerals such as manganese, iron, and zinc. They are rich in antioxidants which boost their ability to rebuild, repair, and rejuvenate the body.
