Description

Beetroot shots are becoming popular in sporting communities due to the nitrates that improve blood flow leading to improved performance. However, beetroot juice shots are not just for athletes.

I recommend drinking 2 x 50ml shots of this concentrated beetroot elixir daily to help lower blood pressure, boost immunity and even prevent cancer. While the Daikon Radish is in season, it’s a great time to incorporate it into a juice.

The flavour combination is sweet, peppery, and extremely easy to drink. Keep warm and stay healthy!

Ingredients

  • 2 beetroots. Look for smooth, hard, round beetroots. The surface should be unbruised and free of cuts. Avoid beets with soft, moist spots or shrivelled, flabby skin.

  • 1 thick slice of pineapple (with skin on)

  • 1/2 Daikon radish

Juicing Time: 3 mins
Juice Qty: 300ml

Preparation

Beetroot

  • Cut in half and then into quarters

  • Slice each half into thin slices to make it easier to press.

  • Juice with skin on (you can also juice the leaves and stems if you have them)

Pineapple

  • Cut a thin slice and leave the skin on

  • Cut into strips

Daikon Radish

  • Cut into half lengthways

  • Cut again into quarters lengthways

Juicing Method

Keep the cap closed when making this juice so all the flavours mix together.

Start with the beetroot slices. Add a 1/4 of the slices, let them press before adding another 1/4. Repeat until all the beetroot is juiced.

Next, add one 1/4 of the daikon radish followed by the other 1/4.

Finally, add the pineapple strips for a bit of sweetness.
