How to make the best ever cold pressed Lemonade

jug filled with homemade cold pressed lemonade

We prefer using raw sugar in this recipe instead of the more commonly used white sugar or castor sugar found in many lemonade recipes.

Raw sugar is less refined, retaining more of the natural molasses present in sugar cane. This not only imparts a richer flavour but also results in a sweetness that is less pronounced.

Before you start, ensure you allocate enough time to peel all the lemons, prepare the sugar water, let it cool, and then extract the juice. Also, plan ahead by having 2 litres of cold water ready in the fridge so you can start enjoying the fresh homemade lemonade right away.

Taste

This recipe yields a refreshing drink with a perfect balance of sweetness to counter the natural sourness of the lemons.

  • 10 Lemons

  • Sugar water – combine 1 cup raw sugar with 1 cup of water

  • 7 cups cold water from the fridge

  • Ice, mint leaves and extra lemon slices to serve (optional)

  • Stand lemons up on one end

  • Slice off the lemon skin including the white pith leaving only the lemon flesh

  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

    Add cold water:

  • Pour 7 cups of cold water into the lemon-sugar water mixture.

  • Stir the ingredients thoroughly to ensure an even blend.

Now, your fresh homemade lemonade is ready to be enjoyed. Pour over ice and savor the delightful taste!
