Ginger-aid Juice

Description

I really love this recipe from the Medical Medium book Life-Changing Foods because it not only tastes great but has amazing healing benefits.

Ginger helps alleviate fatigue, muscle spasms and cramps, muscle tightness and pain, nausea, stomach cramps, and even back pain. Ginger has antispasmodic properties from over 60 minerals, amino acids, enzymes and co-enzymes that work together to calm muscles and help you deal with over reactivity to the stress of everyday life.

If you suddenly find yourself in crisis mode then make some ginger tea, or drink some ginger aid to help give you some respite.

Taste

The ginger has a real kick to it which is then balanced by the tangy lime flavour followed by a sweetness from the honey water.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup raw, cold extracted honey

  • 1 cup filtered water

  • 1 ginger piece 8-10 cm

  • 10 limes

  • 1/2 cup mint leaves

  • 3 cups extra filtered water

    Juicing Time: 10 mins
    Juice Qty: 1500 ml
    Serves: 6

Preparation

Ginger

  • Cut off a large 8-10cm thick piece

  • Cut into thin slices leaving the skin on

Mint

  • Pull off the leaves from the woody stem

  • Juice leaves in handfuls

Lime

  • Thinly slice off the outer skin

  • Juice whole

Method

You need to make honey water on the stove first by adding the honey to 1 cup of water and warm until the honey dissolves. Don’t overheat to preserve the nutrition in the honey. Once dissolved remove and let cool.

Juice the ginger slices a few at a time.

Next juice half the limes one by one. When done add 1/2 the mint leaves into the juicer followed by the rest of the limes one by one.

When you have finished juicing add the juice to the cooled honey water along with the rest of the mint leaves.

Place into the fridge to chill.

Tip: You can drink this ginger juice every day at any time of the day. You can also drink two or three times a day as required.

Enjoy!
